Abstract: Fruit crops are important in tropical agriculture throughout the world and they have great potential in Amazonia. The region is rich in fruit genetic resources and these offer economic and ecologic advantages to producers. Nonetheless, there is considerable genetic erosion of these crops and they are less important than they should be.
